Who We Are

Welcome to Fundacja Rottka Polska. Our journey began not in a boardroom, but in the heart of Gdańsk on August 30, 2006, with a simple yet powerful vision from our founders, Katarzyna and Sławomir Tomasik. What started as the Pomeranian Rottka Foundation has, for nearly two decades, grown into a nationwide movement of compassion, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to those who need it most.

Our story is written by the dogs we’ve saved and the people we’ve supported. From our very first day, our mission has been deeply personal: to stand up for the Rottweiler—a breed so often misunderstood and unfairly judged. We saw past the stereotypes and recognized the loyal, intelligent, and sensitive souls that they truly are. This dedication quickly evolved into a comprehensive rescue operation, pulling homeless, neglected, and abandoned Rottweilers from across Poland and offering them a second chance at life.

We are not a shelter in the traditional sense. We are a sanctuary of individualized care. Every Rottweiler that comes to us arrives with their own story, their own fears, and their own potential. Our approach is to listen to that story. We provide comprehensive veterinary diagnostics, customized nutrition, and a calm, nurturing environment where they can heal. Our ultimate goal is to help them rebuild the trust that was broken by humans, preparing them for the loving, forever homes they so richly deserve.

But our story took a profound turn in 2013. We realized that our mission to protect couldn't be limited to dogs alone. We saw a parallel need for compassion and support on the other side of the leash—for the victims of dog bites. With empathy as our guide, we expanded our statutory goals to include far-reaching assistance to bite victims, with a special and urgent emphasis on protecting children. This pivotal moment transformed us from a breed-specific rescue into a holistic foundation dedicated to the safety and well-being of both animals and people.

Today, Fundacja Rottka Polska operates throughout the entire country, a tireless force for good. We are on the frontlines, intervening in cases of cruelty and shutting down illegal "dog factories" that exploit Rottweilers for profit. We are in the classrooms and communities, educating the public and breaking down the dangerous myths surrounding this wonderful breed. And we are a beacon of hope for those recovering from the trauma of a bite, offering a compassionate ear and practical support.
